B.S. Degree Requirements

The degree requirements for a BS degree in Aquatic Biology include both core and program elements. The core requirements include Functional Biology (BIO 1430); Organismal Biology (BIO 1431); Genetics (BIO 2450); Intermediate Zoology (BIO 2411); Physiology (BIO 3421 or BIO 3465); and Ecology (BIO 4416 or BIO 4454).

Additional required courses in chemistry, mathematics and physics provide a broad scientific background. A minor outside the Department of Biology also is required. The maximum number of hours required for the BS degree is 120 semester hours (except for Wildlife Ecology), including course requirements outside the Department of Biology (English, History, Philosophy, Mathematics, other electives, etc.).

The Program requirements are Aquatic Biology (BIO 3460), Ichythyology (BIO 4415); Limnology (BIO 4470); one advanced Biology elective (a 3000-4000 level Biology course); and Quantitative Analysis (CHEM 3410).
